Three Year Anniversary

As of today, it has been three years since Foxglove Comics came to be! Never could we have imagined it to take off like it has! We have the best community we could have ever hoped for and we can’t thank y’all enough for making us smile each and every single day. You’re all amazing and you motivate us to do our best!

Despite many hardships, we’ve managed to do a lot this past year, perhaps more than last year even! It is a testament to your continued support. But before I get into all that, we have some important things to announce!

For the first time since its introduction two years ago, the affiliate application form is open! Not sure what a Foxglove Comics Affiliate is? You can learn all about it on our community affiliates page, where you can also find the application form. Everyone in our Discord is welcome to apply, including those we turned down previously. The form will close on September 30th at 11:59pm PT. It is beefy with long form answers, so don’t wait till the last minute! We will be taking our time reviewing your applications to maintain a healthy balance with our comic work and other responsibilities. We can’t wait to welcome new friends into the affiliate space!

We’re now on Bluesky! With everything going on with Twitter (X) we’ve decided to branch out a bit and see what works. For now, expect everything we post to our Twitter (X) to be mirrored to Bluesky. Worst case scenario we get more eyes on our comics! It will certainly be more active than our new YouTube channel is right now! Hopefully we can produce more videos over time, but we aren’t adding “youtuber” to our list of responsibilities any time soon. We’re ambitious, not crazy. (In the meantime, why not watch our CozyCon panel about making your webcomic come to life?)

To help put the past 12 months into perspective, our community has grown a staggering 240% nearing 2,000 members total. We barely passed 800 last year and 480 the year prior. That’s significant growth! This will likely lead to our biggest Secret Santa yet this winter, having hosted 57 attendees last year. To keep up with our growing community’s needs we enlisted help from Sticklord and T.Applesmith, our two new members of the moderation team.

Speaking of which, we want to recognize the monumental efforts of our moderation team. They volunteer hours of their time each day to keep the community a safe space for everyone, which is no easy task. Please thank them for their phenomenal work the next time you see them! The team consists of Gunny Waffle, IzzySqueakzy, Neonnoble, Sticklord, SuperDS64, T.Applesmith, and YotaXP.

They’re not the only ones hard at work making our community a great place to be. You’re all to thank as well! Thank you for contributing so much the past year! We’re blessed to host dozens of your events, projects, art collabs, game nights, classes, hangouts, and more. It almost feels like a year long online convention, which says a lot! To top it all off, we’re inundated with fan art of all our comics and the collective itself. Including 19 more amazing community banners! It’s our humble opinion that y’all rock and deserve our best. 💙

This is precisely why we always strive to improve our Discord server. We’ve overhauled many of our channels and roles, polishing our setup using what we’ve learned over the years. It helps that Discord keeps releasing banger updates, like the new forum channels! We’ve released a few bangers of our own too. Our new streaming command has brought autonomy and viewers to the streamers in our community, and everyone is benefiting from our #socials channel during these uncertain times Twitter (X) has wrought.

Our Discord server isn’t the only server to receive love and care throughout the year. Our Minecraft server has been buzzing with activity ever since the update to 1.20.1 rolled out. With 116 registered players, there’s rarely a day without some form of activity! I’ve taken great pleasure in providing custom scripting to improve the quality of life for our players, all without altering vanilla gameplay. Most notable of which is the new Post Office system, which brings mailbox customization to all! It may be just a video game, but true friendships are had on our server and that means the world to us.

Should things go our way, expect some big announcements this upcoming year! We’ve got a lot of projects in the pipeline that we can’t wait to release! Though to be honest, we don’t want to promise too much. We’re stretched thin as of late and have decided to focus on what matters most; our comics and mental health. We have big dreams and lofty goals that we hope to achieve. With a bit of luck, we’ll announce them before our next anniversary.

Truth is, this community means a lot to us, if you can’t tell by now. You’ve helped us through some dark times, often without even realizing it. The creators of Kalzeria and Star Warriors continue to combat their hiatus and your warm company makes the fight worthwhile. Your generosity through fundraisers enabled Mothorial to leave hiatus, which is freaking awesome of y’all! As if that weren’t enough, you uplifted Tamberlane to fund an astoundingly successful Kickstarter for their omnibus! Throughout all of this, Preeny was smothered with love and praise as the newest comic to the collective. Sincerely, thank you, from the bottoms of our hearts for everything you’ve given us this past year. We make comics. You make us whole.
